Meet the two faces behind all things weddings and events at Manchester Country Club.
Let’s start at the beginning. What made you realize you wanted to be an event or wedding planner?
H: I was on the prom committee in high school and looking back I loved every moment; from planning, budgeting, to seeing the whole night come together for students, and the town alike (it was a small town tradition to have a peanut gallery! Weird, I know). That experience was my first glimpse of really seeing a big event through. I loved seeing how many smiles the experience brought to people’s faces.
F: Growing up, I loved going to all types of events, but what intrigued me the most was what was going on behind the scenes. It all somehow seemed seamless. I wanted to be the person to create those stress-free special moments for others.
We know, it’s hard to pick favorites, but you must have at least one. What has been a standout special moment that you helped achieve for an event?
H: Over the years, I have really enjoyed helping local nonprofits get their first fundraising events off the ground. It’s so fun to help share ideas on how to immerse the theme throughout the event, add special touches and create impact moments to speak to their cause. Seeing concepts brought to life as our spaces are transformed is something I’ll never forget.
F: Easily, my favorite part of any wedding is the brief (but special) moments before a bride and groom are introduced as Mr. and Mrs. for the first time, prior to the reception. The pure joy and excitement is always radiating as they wait for the doors to open up and in that moment any stress of the day is gone; it’s when the celebrating really begins.
If you had to choose just one, what type of event would you say best describes your personality?
H: I love a happy occasion, so I’d have to go with a Wedding; it’s all about dancing, celebrating and surrounding yourself with your family and closest friends.
F: Definitely a gala! Any excuse to dress up, dance and bid on auction prizes for a great cause.
What has been your greatest success as a planner?
H: Planning (and celebrating!) over 100 beautiful weddings at Manchester Country Club and getting to know each and every couple along their journey.
F: To me, success in planning means that your host and guests leave happy. Celebrations bring so much joy to people, and I find myself so lucky to be a part of that.
What is the best planning advice you’ve ever received (or given)?
H: Whether it’s leaning on your volunteers, a loved one, or calling your event planner for advice, don’t be afraid to ask for help with planning! Also, be sure to surround yourself with trusted professionals. They really make all the difference when the big event day arrives, this way, you can sit back and enjoy friends, family, the whole atmosphere you envisioned hosting.
F: Don’t forget to take a second to truly enjoy your celebration, in the moment. I know it can get stressful and crazy, but you should be proud of what you’ve put together!
